Fitness Tip: Overcoming Fear Takes Courage

Fitness Tip: Overcoming fear 😱 takes courage

I finally overcame my fear of doing a handstand hold šŸ¤øā€ā™€ļøin a workout this week. I avoided doing them for the past 4 years! I know some people have no problem just kicking up onto the wall, but for me, I really struggled mentally with it. Then add in the intensity of doing it in the middle of a workout with other exercises that fatigue your shoulders, and it could be a disaster waiting to happen 😬!!

My coach @joshvales ā€œJudgy Joshā€ told me I could do it. After strongly disagreeing, I reluctantly tried anyways. I mean, I am 44 years old, and didn’t start CrossFit until 4 years ago! I was surprised to find that I could actually do itšŸ‘. I always thought my shoulders would just give-way, and I’d come crashing down on my noggin 🤯!!

It gave me a new-found confidence that I didn’t realize I had. I still have other things to tacklešŸ¤¼ā€ā™€ļø, but I’m proud that I found the courage to give it a shot.

I’d like to challenge you to try something new. I started my fitness journey at age 40. I had never been to a gym before that. ! I had never picked up a barbell šŸ‹ļøā€ā™€ļø, done a pull-up, burpee, back squat, clean, strict press, or a deadlift. The list goes on. I’m so glad I took that step. I can honestly say, it has changed my life. It doesn’t matter how old šŸ‘µšŸ»you are, or what kind of shape you’re in, it’s never to late to get started šŸ‘Š!

Try something that takes you out of your comfort zone šŸ§—ā€ā™€ļø every once in a while. I bet you’ll find that you can do whatever you put your mind to šŸ™ŒšŸ»!
